You Can Make a Difference

Thank you for your interest in Volunteer Services. Volunteers are an important part of our University Hospital community and we welcome your application. We believe you can make a difference.

Along with your contribution of time, we welcome donations of books, magazines, videos and DVDs to provide to our patients during their stay at University Hospital. Please call the volunteer office for more information on donations.

Pet Therapy

Volunteer Services offers pet therapy at patient request to help reduce anxiety and depression associated with hospitalization. Please contact Volunteer Services if you have a pet who may be interested in becoming a pet therapy dog or if you know a patient who would enjoy a visit.

Adult Volunteers

Opportunities for adult volunteers include clerical work, visiting with patients with a book cart to deliver books and magazines, escorting patients and visitors, waiting room and emergency department assistance, and many other specific opportunities on nursing floors and within specific departments such as Women’s Health, Neuroscience, and the Barrett Cancer Center. Groups are encouraged to inquire about special projects, which may involve offsite work.

University Hospital VolunTeen Program

University Hospital, offers a (June to mid-August) summer VolunTeen program for teens aged 14 – 18, but still in high school. Deadline for application is May 15.  This teen program allows volunteer opportunities to our young people that may encourage a healthcare career.
